Description

Mahendra, the son of Chhayadutta Upadhyaya and Rupshila Upadhyaya , entered the world in 2006 AD in Kanaka Sundari Rural Municipality, Jumla, Karnali, the most remote mountains of Nepal where the access of road is being build. People are living very poor lives, depending on Tibet for their daily supplies. He is from the impoverished community, known as one of the poorest indigenous groups in Nepal, his family has faced many challenges. The basic facilities like schools, hospitals, shops are not available there. His parents are physically disabled and used to beg for food. They were living in poor conditions. Mahendra was referred to Hopeful Home Orphanage by the Central Child Welfare Board which is an authorized governmental body for children protection in Nepal. Since 2015 AD, he has been residing in the orphanage. Despite his challenging background, he finds joy in playing soccer, listening to English and Nepali music, and favoring the color black and white. Currently enrolled in grade 9 at United Preparatory English Boarding School, he faced a difficult start in his education journey, making progress slowly. Despite the difficulties, he remains determined to overcome challenges and to build a brighter future for himself.
