Description
Shikshika Chepang, the Daughter of Hom Bahadur Chepang and Renuka Chepang, entered the world in 2010 AD in Gandaki Hiklung Gurkha, situated in the hills outside the Kathmandu Valley. Hailing from the impoverished Chepang community, known as one of the poorest indigenous groups in Nepal, Shikshika's family has faced considerable challenges. The Chepang people, characterized by their semi-nomadic history, have struggled with the rugged terrain, making permanent farming challenging.
Tragedy struck her family five years ago when her father passed away from a heart attack. She was referred to Hopeful Home Orphanage by the Gandaki municipality officer, seeking a better life and opportunities for them. Since 2022 AD, she has been residing in the orphanage.
Despite her challenging background, she exudes her generosity to all. She finds joy in singing, listening to Nepali pop songs, and favoring the color green. She hates greedy people. Currently enrolled in grade 6 at United Preparatory English Boarding School, Shikshika faced a late start in her education journey, making progress slowly. Despite the difficulties, she remains determined to overcome challenges and to build a brighter future for herself.
